Well this is what my two Thoroughbred geldings decided to do on Christmas Eve, the morning after a tornado had touched down about three miles away followed by flooding rains that caused their pond to overflow. Once they were let out for the day, they both rolled multiple times to make sure they were good and muddy before going wading in the pond. This was a cold day, though the snow didn't come until later that day. Apparently it was a good morning for a wade in the pond followed by their favorite gelding games where no one gets hurt but a lot of fun seems to be had. I am not sure if the goal was to rear the highest or stay up the longest on this day, but they both seemed to be having fun making the most out of a very wet and miserable day! In the photos, Theodan is on the left and Rohan is on the right. When I rescued Theodan, he didn't even have the strength or desire to walk to water even though he was desperately needing a drink, so it's wonderful to see him feeling so good these days. (Rohan is still in charge, of course, in case anyone had any doubts!)
